Bluebonnets along a back road in the Hill Country, where the caliche shoulder gives way to a low blue field. Locals drive the Willow City Loop and the Llano-Fredericksburg backroads in the second and third weeks of April, when the bloom is heaviest. Cars pull off in twos and threes. The wind smells faintly of cedar.

Slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, in our family studio in Knoxville, Tennessee.
