A clearing in the second-growth woods west of Fredericksburg where Lee divided his army in May 1863 and routed a Union force twice his size. Jackson was shot here by his own pickets after dark on the second day and died eight days later at Guinea Station. The road through is still called the Orange Plank Road. from the studio
