Strawberry Park Hot Springs Yampa Valley Ceramic Art Tile
$22.00
Seven miles north of Steamboat, up Routt County Road 36, the pavement gives out and the road climbs into the Routt National Forest. The hot springs are a series of stone-walled pools stepped down a hillside, the hottest at the top near 104°F, cooler where Hot Springs Creek runs in below. Snow comes early up here and stays late. In winter the steam rises above the pools and the road in is its own kind of weather. Locals book the night sessions a week ahead. After dark the pools are lit only by lanterns and starlight.
Slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, in our family studio in Knoxville, Tennessee.
