A shallow lagoon between the Cretan mainland and a small islet, where the sand reads pink at the waterline. The colour comes from a tiny red foraminifer mixed into the white quartz. The water is warm and only knee-deep for a long way out. In high summer the road in fills early and the wind off Africa carries the heat right onto the beach.
