Grazalema mountain village
$22.00
A pueblo blanco of about two thousand people, set on a shelf below the peak of San Cristóbal at roughly 825 metres. The houses are washed white twice a year against the sun; the roofs are old terracotta. Grazalema sits inside a UNESCO biosphere reserve declared in 1977, and its corner of the sierra collects the most rainfall in Spain — close to 2,200 millimetres in a good year. Wool blankets still come from the looms here.
