Hanakaoo Canoe Beach Maui Ceramic Art Tile

The south end of Kaʻanapali, two miles up the coast from Lahaina town, a stretch of sand the locals call Canoe Beach. Three west-side outrigger clubs keep their hales here, the Lahaina club since 1971. On Saturday mornings from early June into late July the regattas run, hulls tracking out past the reef in colored sets. Most other days it is a family beach: shade trees, picnic tables, a lifeguard tower, the long sand bending north toward the resorts. The visitor maps mark Kaʻanapali. The paddlers name the beach for what it has always done.
