Napili Bay Maui Ceramic Art Tile
$22.00
A small crescent on Maui's northwest shore, set between Kapalua to the north and Ka'anapali to the south. The reef sits close in, keeping the water quiet through most of summer; in winter the north Pacific swell finds its way around the headland and the bay turns to whitewater. Green sea turtles graze the limu on the inside reef most mornings, sometimes hauling out on the sand to rest. Hawaiians call them honu. The Napili Kai has held the south end of the beach since 1962. From November through March, humpbacks pass the channel between Maui and Lana'i, sometimes close enough to hear from the sand.
Slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, in our family studio in Knoxville, Tennessee.
