The Galleria opened in 1970, modeled on Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II: a long barrel vault of glass over a central concourse, with a public ice rink at the bottom. Outside, it is 100°F from May to October. Inside, the skaters trace figures under a roof of light. Gerald Hines developed it. HOK designed it. It is the largest mall in Texas, and the building Houstonians actually meet at.

Slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, in our family studio in Knoxville, Tennessee.
