The second-largest natural lake in Connecticut, lying between New Preston, Warren, and Kent. A nine-mile road runs the perimeter past stone walls, dairy fields, and a hillside vineyard above the western shore. Mornings in late September the lake holds a cold mist that lifts by ten. The state park at the north end has the only public swimming on the lake; the rest of the shore is quiet residential.
