Alfred B. Maclay Gardens, in early spring. The brick walks run between banks of azaleas in cream, coral, and old rose, with camellias still holding from winter and dogwoods opening overhead. The peak window is short, roughly mid-March to early April, when the bloom of the Indica azaleas and the new dogwood flush line up for about ten days. Lake Hall sits below the garden, the reflecting pool holds the sky, and the live oaks keep everything in a long, soft shade.

Slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, in our family studio in Knoxville, Tennessee.
