Marine on St Croix
$22.00
One of the oldest settlements in Minnesota, built around the sawmill that cut the first commercial log in the state in 1839. The village kept its scale. White clapboard, a general store with a screen door, a single lane down to the landing where the St. Croix moves slow and dark. The bluffs across the river belong to Wisconsin. In autumn the maples on both banks burn at once and the water carries the colour south.
Slowly infused into the ceramic surface under high heat and pressure, in our family studio in Knoxville, Tennessee.
