Pewabic Pottery
$22.00
Mary Chase Perry Stratton opened the pottery in 1903 in a stable behind a friend's house, moved it to a small Tudor Revival building on Jefferson Avenue in 1907, and never left. The tiles she made shimmered with iridescent finishes nobody else could match. They still come out of the same building, and they still ride into the walls of Detroit churches, libraries, and subway stops.
