Stone Harbor Seven Mile Beach

A wide quiet beach on the ocean side of Seven Mile Island, the barrier strip Stone Harbor shares with Avalon. The dune grass holds; the boardwalk stays modest. South of the swimming beaches the sand bends toward the Point, where the bird sanctuary keeps the lights low and herons fish the back bays. Most of the year it belongs to the regulars: surfcasters, terns, the families who have rented the same block for three generations.
