Wichita Falls lost the falls it was named for in a flood in 1886. A century later the city built them back — a four-tiered, fifty-four-foot cascade in Lucy Park, set against stacked limestone and visible from Interstate 44. The new falls were dedicated in 1987 and run from a closed pump system back into a holding pool below. — from the studio
